Since days the 1. runner has arrived, he was here some years ago and will run this year again. Welcome Mr Sanink to Wengen and the Bellevue.I will cheer up all runners again this year in front of the Bellevue instead of running my self (no time for the training).

The name of the cow is Lisa and the winner is Delia Egloff from Bättwil she wîns 1 night for 2 persons at the Bellevue Hotel in Wengen. Congratulations

On 17th April I stopped skiing for this season, it was just super great over Easter and you should stop when it is the best! On "Karfriday" it was still powder snow on white hair and Salzegg and on Easter Monday it was "Sulz" just great skiing in April (as usual)

The cows name is "Bunte Kuh" and the winner is Noth Amon from Laupen, he is winning a hour driving the garden railway and 4 ice-creams at the Bellevue Hotel in Wengen. Congratulations

The cows name is "Edelweiss" and the winner is Gemma Francis from England, she wins a set of Caran D'Ache pencils sponsered by the artist of the cow. Congratulations

Skiing today (8. April) was just great - may be hard to belive for people how are somewhere in the "flat lands" - but there is nothing greater than skiing in our unique mountain world!

Our Easter eggs look good! On Good Friday we have rapped the eggs with herbs and until the early morning I have cooked/coloured them

The last days we did work in the garden and had a great vegetable plate to eat. Soon all the work around the house is done and we can prepair inside the hotel for the winter season.

.. and this evening we have baked the bread Easter hares for breakfast tomorrow morning

Some guests are confused, they have packed the wrong clothes for this season!

That's the golden autumn or indian summer what we have now. It is great all the trees with the colourful leaves and the walks over the mountains - just great!

After a great walk over the Männlichen last week I run in full sunshine around the lake of Brienz (35km) as the last run of this season and it was in a way harder than the Marathon!

It is December — some snow on the slopes but not yet enough! There is skiing on the weekends at Kleine Scheidegg. The ski teacher will have their training to get ready for the guests and to be real updated. We now wait for “Mrs Holle” to shake strongly her duvets

At the moment the paperwork keeps me very busy, but the garden waits, there are still vegetables to pick (cauliflowers, beetroots, carrots, and cabbage). I eat still fresh salad every day and two days ago I got the last courgettes.

This summer Sitti will get a new paint. The Olympic winter games 2006 has taken place in Turin and not in Sion, that is why Sitti needs to be painted differentely and needs to get a new name. The painting will start on 24th June when Mary De Castro, the painter will arrive. Before Andi has to paint it white first!

It is birthday time! All the aquarious are celebrating! On 25th it was Mr Phillips who has his party with Maloney and all the other friends, on 28th January Pierre from Mulhouse has his 5th birthday at the Bellevue and I myself should plan my party now as well!

March is over - skiing is top - still possible down to the village - March must be the right month for winter holidays! We are still open until Sunday! welcome to the Bellevue

At 16.00 the results were ready. Wengen did say no for a road with 198 yes and 211 no. Wengen said also yes to a carless centre.. Now we have a lot of work to do in the council to get regulations etc. and I will not leave to the Konkordia Platz!!

The wind is blowing with 200km on the top of Lauberhorn and here in Wengen it is very strong too, (the vegetable garden is green again!) We hope that the 4th winter of this winter will soon come!

100 Years Skiclub of Wengen

Two weeks ago we got a visit from the „Alphornbläser“, they played on the opening of the memorial place of F. Mendelson and on our terrace!

At last the sun is shinning again and for more than only 5 minutes! A lovely day today but still quite chilly. Summer 2004 — the summer who was an April?? We will see how it goes on!

The grapes on the wall of the greenhouse are extremely big this summer and I wonder when they are ready to be eaten!

Even my aunt helped in the garden to make it soon ready for you!

The "Föhn" is blowing and keeps the thought of winter back!

Since Wednesday, 24. August 2005 Wengen is reachable again by train from Lauterbrunnen and by bus or private car from Interlaken. Since then we have also power again and we can make phone calls. Now in Wengen and the whole valley everything is back to normal: The trains are running up to the Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn and Männlichen. There is no reason not to visit us. We are looking forward to your visit on the last weekend of August (may be the first August weekend with sunshine). See you soon at the Bellevue in Wengen.

But during one week we also had very heavy rainfalls and the lakes were flooding again. In the Lauterbrunnen valley now all the rivers and falls are extremely strong (that is why it is called the Lauterbrunnental (word by word translated the ” Many well valley”)!

Andi prepared all in the kitchen for the new dish machine and …

There is a consultative voting in Wengen on 26th September 2004 about building a road to Wengen or not and how it should go on with the traffic in the Wengen centre. May be you would like to drive to the Bellevue in some 20 or 30 years! (I will not be here anymore! May be I move to Greenland or run a hotel on the Konkordiaplatz on the Aletsch Glacier!) You see there is something going on in Wengen even when nothing happens!

From Monday evening until Wednesday afternoon Wengen was without power and train connection. The street to Lauterbrunnen from Interlaken could be open again on Tuesday evening and by walking to Lauterbrunnen we could get out of the Valley again. We had no power for about 40 hours and we could not make phonecalls at all. Per handy from the Hunnenfluh we could make phone calls out of the valley but not in the Valley. That was not easy for us, then we could only communicate with walkeetalkees in the valley. By helicopter people came and went also some goods were delivered.

A sunny day today, the snow is still closed but the skiing is definite over now, all lifts are closed having ther summer break for at least 7 month! It is a pity for me!

Also at the Bellevue the champagne did run and we got well into the New Year. And as we hoped one week ago it was a white Christmas and also the new Year 2004 began real like winter!

It is still green in the garden and it is not really ready for winter, some tulips I want to put in and the sugar peas are not yet in the ground.

Last weekend it was the railway weekend at the Bellevue — many garden railway friends met at the Bellevue and let their trains run on our Rail system.

The snake is back again and enjoys the sunshine on the apple tree!

Summer has already started since weeks

Fritz as allrounder

Since 3 years Fritz Ries is in Wengen now and about 10 years in Switzerland. He is German and this winter he will be the handyman at the Bellevue. He meets you at the station and will drive you to the Bellevue.

The Bellevue is open again. Yesterday the first guests arrived and this evening we could already serve some new and some regular guests (the Hitchcock family and Mrs and Mr Roberts and Mr Hewstone).

Today, 26th August we finally found our last guest missing since Monday. He was in a Hotel in Interlaken which had no power as well and we didn’t know where he was and the Hotel did not inform us. Today we went to pick him up because he was not well informed about the situation in Wengen. Another guest did walk up to Wengen on Tuesday and we picked up his luggage on Wednesday!

We were lucky during these bad days and we hope that soon all gets back to normal life for the other areas. We feel very sorry for all the people who has lost a lot and some there life.

This picture we took last week! The snow melts very fast in spring and the trains have to change to summer operations now - the snow plough will be stored until the next snow falls!

The vegetable garden got totally covered with snow! And I went skiing on the Lauberhorn and Arven for the first time with my right knee which was injured last January - it works again and skiing is still the greatest fun - I look forward to a lovely skiing season together with you.

Today finally we could see the Jungfrau again and we had a lovely sunny day, after the wet rainy days we could weed the garden, too.

A election campaign takes place in our valley now and on 30th November we will know if there will be a woman or a man for president - beside this it is quiet in Wengen.

March is as sunny as February - just great.

12. December 2002, there are lovely early winter days, skiing on slopes with only a few people is great. You can use the whole piste for yourself and down in the mist there are people rushing trough the Christmas business! And here we have still peace before the rush, slowly the staff is getting into Wengen and everywhere there are still busy workers to become ready ……

After the rain and heavy snow - today sun again (17. November 2002) - have a nice Sunday!

Mr Uebelhard enjoys a drink on the terrace and is relaxing to be fit for his job again sometimes in the future!

One day is better than the other and that goes on already for 14 days!

We have moved the jacuzzi down back to the terrace to be ready for next winter or this week. Next winter you could sit in the jacuzzi with a hot “Glühwein” and snow flocks falling down? Or a lovely winter full moon night and a glass of champagne?

It is getting more and more quiet in Wengen now, the holidays are over, the Männlichen cable car will soon close depending on snowfalls on Männlichen. But some hotels keep open and guarantee that you can sleep in Wengen any time!

Also the staff has come back and we had a very busy week to train them, to make all the decoration and the Christmas cookies. But now we are nearly ready for Christmas.

After a lot of rain this week we have finally got a bit of snow. The winter might try to come back once more?

The snow climbs up back to the glaciers but it is not too far away yet. All skilifts are now closed and it is rather quiet in the village.

The last guests have left and we have closed the hotel, the flags we took down and the shatters were shut. Until 20 December the Bellevue will be closed but you will reach us per phone, email or fax and we also answer your letters with pleasure.

Big sale at the Bellevue from 29th April to 2nd May! All stuff which is standing somewhere in the store rooms since a long time will be sold!

The whole village looked like in a fairytale and on the advent market at the station the Christmas feeling has started. We hope that the forecasted “Föhn” will not take all the snow away - at least on the ski runs we need to keep it.

Lydia is from Austria. She knows Wengen quite well as she has worked here before. Since June Lydia works at the reception and in the service. Come and visit us and meet also Lydia.

It is just great, real winter. On the slopes nobody except you and the powder snow in the lovely winter landscape. Enjoy it, I can not do it because I had an accident!

The first winter of this season is over and we wait for the second one!

1. Juni 2002 ... yesterday (and today too) was the first time the guests could eat on the terrace and they enjoyed it very much.

.... and Nina and I did put on our Swiss National clothes and we enjoy the 1st August very patriotic!

2. April 2002: Pia did enjoy the jacuzzi very much. For the summer we will take it away to make it ready for the winter again, that you can enjoy as well in deep winter evenings!

As every year our regular guests have had their birthdays - here is Glenys on her 70th, having fresh picked strawberries from our garden and Champagne!

And then he was suddenly here - our neighbour Mr Uebelhart - he had to do a short trip to Wengen in this lovely late summer weather.

6. Mai 2002

It was snowing as never all winter long and everything was white. But today a lovely day and all the snow is melting and running down as water from all the roofs.

Now the weather forecast looks good and we are glad that our guests now can enjoy all the pretty flowers at the different locations, we are quite sure that the lady slippers are also blooming at Biglen Alp now….

It is spring weather with lovely snow conditions on empty slopes, it must be great spring skiing - I try it slowly with cycling with my injured knee!

Finally it is warm again, but the leaves are already changing there colour and that is why you should come soon - autumn is not too far away any more

We now look forward to the 75th Lauberhorn races next year and hope for lovely weather!

This year he became 3rd and he is very happy and we as well that at least the slalom could take place!

It is raining and raining and the famous waterfalls are as big as in spring time!

Is it the 3rd summer (this summer) or still the first summer! The summer 2003 is just unbelievable! The snow covered mountains are soon uncovered mountain!………..

That is winter as expected!

Two month to go for Christmas and it will be over with the peace we have at the moment! Yesterday Wengen was white covered with snow for the second time this autumn but then the sun came and it was a great autumn day, the snow moved up to Mürren!

The snow conditions are unique and the slopes are empty! Summer will still be long enough, come now for skiing!

As usual during the Snowpenair there are snow flocks, many fans and good music on Kleine Scheidegg. And tomorrow the sun will be even stronger than today to let us have a sunny Sunday. We wish you a great weekend. We are sorry that you are not with us!

With the beginning of autumn the winter did start! For the moment.! Today 25th December - sorry September it is quite white and cool.

We have already taken down the Jacuzzi again and it is ready for winter guests who like to have a bath.

Tomorrow on July 27, the summer should be back again and we shall have, after some moist days a great summer weekend.

Tanja is a student of the hotelschool in Thun and she is doing her training at the Bellevue. She lives in the region of the lake of Thun and was already working in different resorts in the Bernese Oberland. We are happy to have her here at the Bellevue and you can come any time to meet her.

The flowers bloom every where also the lupines in front of the trough…

And now we hope that Petrus is also a bit Swiss and will give us a dry evening with lampions and fireworks. But our guests can look forward to a lovely dinner because in the kitchen the chef and his assistant are working very hard.

Because of the föhn it is even hoter on the slops today; there is the “Gastro Race” which takes place today too and the Bellevue team is there to take part in it. Unfortunately we have no chance to win as we run with a handicap of 6 seconds! Any way we all were there.

A shock for the plants, the snow has pressed them down - but they have recovered quickly and now we have only to wait some days until the garden becomes a bit drier to sow the vegetables.

We all were waiting for the runners, also Mrs Berdolli (the former owner of the Bellevue) got a seat to be ready.

…May be we find the time to go up there and look after them.

Very quiet our palm tree must have made the decision to have flowers (it is the first time since we are at the Bellevue) and now it looks just great….

Now we can serve dinner outside again and the guests can enjoy it - may be also a lovely pink sunset?

Tonight she showed us how women were equiped for skiing 100 years ago. She will give here dress to the valley museum in Lauterbrunnen.

...there are still two very small spots of snow - but it will not last long any more and they are gone (I can not remember a summer they were gone!)

The leafs are falling down now, we have already taken in some flowers but there are still some vegetables in the garden to eat and we have still a lot to do around the house.

The Alphorn group Alte Aare are our guests today and will take part in the festivals tomorrow on top of Männlichen

On Top of Männlichen there will be the great folklore festival taking place (which we had to cancel last Sunday because of the weather) and afterwards we will….

After 4 years Silke is back to the Bellevue. She worked with us in the millenium winter and went back after that summer to Leipzig in Germany. Now she is here again and you meet her in the Restaurant or at the front desk.

We congratulate "Paul" and mostly Switzerland for its birthday! We will decorate the hotel and make us clean and nice for the Swiss National Day. We are looking forward to your visit!

...and the sugar beans in the garden. We are proud as we sowed them last October and they grew during all winter and did not freeze!

The winter which was a spring! There was only one winter this winter and it ended after the Lauberhorn race, since mid January we have spring here with short interruptions of cold weather!

.....and the trains are already running daily sometimes even at night - but they do not run into the dinning room as some spectators thought!

We wish you all a nice long week-end and all mothers a great Mother's Day. Let’s see from where the wind will blow if it will be spring or winter weather?

Not only the wild flowers are nice, around the hotel, on the balconies, flowers are everywhere!

...at Biglen Alp Andi took great pictures.

And it is raining and raining - but well it is raining all over Europe it seams that all the water of the world falls down here! In the vegetable garden I think I should plant frogs next year!

....and only during the night the flowers are open and the whole lounge smells very special like perfume. The flowers look like snowballs? If you hurry up with your visit you may still catch a bit of the smell – or the smell of Christmas cookies in the house!

Also this year the peonys are to early, there are still 4 weeks to go until Whitsuntide! May be you come and visit us for that weekend instead of standing somewhere in a traffic jam!

But there is still enough time until Christmas for the weather to get back to normal and that we will get the nice winter landscape in time.

This winter Jan will again replace the chef when he has his free day and otherwise he will cook together in the kitchen team. May be you will also see him in the village when he picks up some guests or vegetables! On the skiruns you will not miss him as he carves around without sticks!

It is hot summer now and the swimmingpool is open since last Saturday and the water is already 24° C or more and the air is over 30°C

It is hard to understand that there are not more guests enjoying days like today with us!

.. ..around the hotel it is already very green with many flowers and we did start to work in the garden now to become ready for the vegetables.

.... put all the flags out to make ready for August 1, that we will hopefully have a great sunny Swiss National Day, with fireworks in the village and a lovely dinner - may be on the terrace?!

29. März 2002, it is so great up there on the slopes - early in the morning nobody was there - later the fully packed trains came up to Kleine Scheidegg and everybody could enjoy a sunny day

Next weekend on September 7,/8, the 10th Jungfrau Marathon will take place. Because of 10 years there will be two races and on two days about 3000 runners will pass the Bellevue. We do not know if we will manage to shout and clap our hands on two days!

And again during the last night of the year it was raining, we hope that it finally stops and the winter which was already here once will come back. But nevertheless there is good skiing, there was some cm new snow on Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen and there are many people on the slopes and now for a short time the sun shows up for the last time this year.

The clematis is blooming and climbing up to the Jacuzzi …

Finally we can get again the winter pictures of the hotel.

Easter at the Bellevue is still possible. We bet there will be white Easter and we wonder if you are going to look for Easter eggs with us!

We have also rooms available at the moment for the Snowpenair weekend, the last Snowpenair takes place on Kleine Scheidegg at March 23, the last years it was always snowing on that weekend and the snow, rain or storm makes it to a real special event!

One card with music was just unique and everybody got into good mood.

Soon you will find them on the plate as decoration, they are quite tasty to eat!

Things can only get better. Starting mid week the summer should return, as it was back in June.

on the sunny terrace we were picking herbs this afternoon to wrap around the eggs to give our guests nice Easter eggs on Sunday!

Nina is back! She has worked already 3 seasons with us and is now coming back for the rest of the season - over from Grindelwald to the Bellevue.

Well it is autumn now and the leaves have turned red. We are looking forward to your visit in September that you can enjoy the good views, Wengen, our area and of course the Bellevue.

Today, July 31, we got a visit from the owners of the Schönegg Hotel, Sina and René and they look up to the stars and wonder what August 2003 will bring us!

and on the alps there are the gentian - every where they bloom and that is what you can enjoy now at the Bellevue in Wengen.

Unfortunately I enjoy the winter with my eyes now and not under my skis! The operation of the knee ligaments is over and soon I will practise like Herman Maier to be fit for the next winter season, I hope that next winter again will be as snowy as this one.

The runs are just superb now (people tell me) and we are looking forward to your visit, the next two weeks during the week days we still have enough rooms available for your short visit, on weekends we are very busy and the snow hungry guests from the cities are travelling to Wengen in groups! Sabine Blümke is the 2. chef of the kitchen - this winter new at the Bellevue but not new in Wengen. She has worked already some seasons in Wengen and we are very much pleased that she belongs to our kitchen team this winter. You can meet Sabine on the slopes and in the village - she is part of life in Wengen and a gregarious personality.

The winter has finally gone and today it is a clean and sunny day - Wengen and the Bellevue are ready for the new summer season.

Andi is making ready the whirlpool, the guests are really enjoying it to sit in the hot water with a „Glühwein“ in a snow storm or with a great view on a lovely day - cooling down with a cold drink.

......... in the kitchen the cooks are preparing that our guests can enjoy a great dinner tonight.

Nadine came new for the winter season to the Bellevue. She is a student at the Swiss Hotelmanagement School in Thun and she works here to pass here front desk training. Last winter she was in Grindelwald and she knows already the area quite well. Nadine Stampfli is from the region of Solothurn (Switzerland) and she loves the mountains, the snow and generally the winter sports. We hope that she can get good experience to take along on here professional way and we are looking forward to a good co-operation at the Bellevue.

Dragana worked with us at the housekeeping. Now when her child is already going to the kindergarden she helps us where ever we need help.

Pfingsten at the Bellevue, everywhere we have flowers now but the peony are already gone. And in the garden we have already the first strawberries

We had a visit by some good friends from Zürich. They enjoyed the terrace, the ice-cream and the only reason they couldn’t stay was because of the Street Parade in Zürich waiting for them!

This summer Barbara came to us and you meet her at breakfast where she pampers you. Barbara knows Wengen quite well but is originally from the canton Freiburg (were the black and white cows come from). She is practising for her next shooting match or hiking through our lovely area when she is off.

Today I will sow the onions, carrots, radish (for our neighbour Mr Uebelhard), the beet roots, and then we have just to wait that it grows and we can soon cook our own vegetables for our guests.

Beside working Andy has re-discovered his old hobby and took the railway out in the green!

Our new electro mobile has now chains as well and can drive to the station.

....and children!

.. and we skied the powder down the Lauberhorn, down to Wengernalp and even down to Allmend - finally the winter season has started!

In the TV lounge the special palm tree has flowers again after only half an year and the whole room smells again after a special perfume.

For the coming winter season we are still looking for a person who helps in the kitchen (Kitchen help), doing the dishwashing, preparing the salad and keep the kitchen very clean. Also for our new electro mobile we are looking for a driver who brings our guests to the station, it is an allrounder job because he has to do quite many different things.

In the garden the strawberries are ripe and they smell is lovely, we wait for the strawberry pickers, they come from England and will arrive next week! (the Watsons the Bevans and the Reeves)

Between rainy and misty days there are some days just unique - the golden days for bike tours to Kleine Scheidegg or for just sitting and relaxing on the sunny terrace.

...you can enjoy the peace. Next winter we will take it down again.

We have moved the hot jacuzzi to the roof (by Helicopter).

Slavica Didak was in Croatia last summer together with her husband. During the winter she is working again at the Bellevue and she is responsible for the dish washing, vacuum cleaning, cleaning of the windows and bringing up the bottles from the cellar. Since 10 years Mrs Didak lived in Wengen together with her husband, she came here with her daughter during the war in Bosnia. Since then she lived at the “Farmhaus” and she is a person how helps in many households here in the village. Knitting is a hobby she did often when she was still in Bosnia, she also had a large garden. We are happy that Mrs Didak is working in our team.

Myrtha Oertig came last summer in to our team and she got very quick familiar with Wengen. She always looks forward to your visit together with us. Myrtha Oertig is from the Linth area (the region between lake of Zürich and Walensee), she was travelling for some month in the world and has come to Wengen with her trombone and paraglide, now you will not be wake up by the crow of the cock but by the sound of her trombone! She is a member of the Wengen music and takes part in the procession during our village festival. During her time off she flys down from the Männlichen or is climbing another mountain to enjoy the fly back to the valley. Myrthy Oertig speaks Swiss German, German, English, Spanish and some French - no problem not to understand each other.

After many wet days we could see the sun again today.

The house is again under construction, Andi and Mladen have taken out many carpets, some bath rooms are ready to be new tiled and with a lot of cable the new telephone system is being build in. You see there will be a lot to see again when you come and visit us in December! (over Christmas we have still some rooms available, but not over New Years Eve).
